Fruits and vegetables that boost the immune system. Everywhere we look, a healthy lifestyle is heavily promoted. Living healthy means eating fresh fruits and vegetables, exercising, and practicing alternative therapies.
Because healthy living is heavily promoted and embraced by young and elders, British nation has developed a high appetite for fruits and vegetables.
I, for example, love fresh fruits and vegetables and I carefully try to pick the best ones that last longer.

Often times I bought fruits and vegetables that looked absolutely fine, and after 2 to 3 days they were molded or mushy. One of the reasons this thing happened is because I have a 6 years old fridge that builds up ice and moisture on the walls of the refrigerator.
You see, this situation is causing to waste of a lot of fruits and vegetables, which I am the only one to blame for not investing in a new refrigerator that preserves the life of vegetables and fruits along with the vitamins they contain.
Just like me, there are many other people who either cannot afford a new fridge or don’t realize how important is a quality refrigerator.

After throwing away multiple times vegetables and fruits, I have developed a habit to recycle them by packing them in plastic bags and place them in the freezer.
Fruits can become delicious smoothies, while vegetables will be added to soup or roasted along with some chicken.
As I get older, I started to become wiser and choose what I eat according to my health needs. Recently with covid-19 situation, there is a natural desire to choose fruits and vegetables that boost the immune system.
After doing some research, turns out that I’m not the only one trying to boost my immune system by eating more vegetables and fruits.
What immunity-boosting vegetables sold the most in 2021?
According to Tesco statistics, since the lockdown started last year, people are buying larger quantities of fruits and vegetables and shop less. This particular habit is good for following the restrictions and trying to minimalize the spreading of covid-19.
Some of the vegetables that have been bought the most in 2021 are potatoes, red onions, butternut squash, aubergines, carrots, peas, garlic, red pepper, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and green beans.
What immunity-boosting fruits sold the most in 2021?
As well as vegetables, the fruits that sold the most in 2021 are the following: strawberries, bananas, green grapes, red grapes, tangerines, lemons, clementines, apples, blueberries, blackberries, plums, watermelon, mango, and nectarines.
The above fruits and vegetables have been in high demand by no coincidence. These are rich in vitamin A and C, essential for keeping your immune system strong.
Besides the fruits and veg listed above, I have a few others that are my favorite which I use at least three times a week:
- Avocado – 1 avocado is packed with 10 mg of vitamin C and vitamin B6 which are essential for keeping your immune system strong and protect you from cold and flu.
- Spinach – spinach is rich in vitamin A and C and I love to add some in my omelette and sandwhices
- Green tea – gree tea does contain a minimum of Vitamin C, but give the fact that I drink every day it might contribute to immunity boosting quite a bit
- Kiwi – kiwi is loaded with Vitamin C and are perfect for smoothies and fresh juice
- Ginger – ginger contain 5mg of Vitamin C per 100g of ginger root ( a few slices of ginger in the tea will make it taste phenomenal)
- Dragon fruit – dragon fruit does not contain only Vitamin A and C, but is extremely rich in magnesium, a mineral vital to the body’s function
Let’s not forget the herbs which are packed with antioxidants and vitamins
Herbs such as parsley, peppermint, cinnamon, and basil are delicious and top up the daily intake of Vitamin A and C.
Cooking herbs are great to add a nice flavor to salads and smoothies, while cinnamon makes my latte extra yummy. Besides I love the cinnamon aroma that spreads around the kitchen.
Obviously, the easiest ways to eat enough vegetables are salads such as Mediterranean chopped salad, Pasta salad, and many other variants.
My favorite way to eat plenty of fruits is smoothies; I combine them with sesame seeds which will give me enough energy for an entire day.
